Born in the hills of rural Virginia, Shakti spent half of her childhood in the Siddha Yoga Meditation Ashram, both in the US and in India. She was educated through a combination of homeschooling and Waldorf school, until graduating with a BA from St. John’s College, a rigorously intellectual “great books” school. Along with a strong background in thinking, Shakti also has a life long love of art and music, having grown up playing the violin and taking classes in drawing and painting.
Travel, and a wide variety of experiences brought Shakti to the bay area in 2010. Here she began teaching yoga, and began studying Shadow Yoga, an in depth school of Hatha yoga. After meeting pioneering researcher and developer of Biofield tuning, Eileen Mckusick, Shakti became certified in this new healing modality. Through yoga and sound therapy she facilitates healing, re-harmonizing the many layers of your body and being, so that you can access more of your original, radiant self.
